Ballpart costs for a full or partial rocker-panel replacement bodywork? 120-130

I have a serious rust issue on one of my rocker panels and I am starting to do research on having the whole outside component removed and replaced with a new one.

How much should I be expecting to pay on such a project? What's fair in other words, so that I may begin to budget for this.

So far I have only ever had to have slight bondo work done at a body shop, so I just don't know what to expect and look for in bids on a rocker-panel replacement.

Any direct experience/stories with this type of project and the price paid would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Mr. Nut (or would that be W. Nut?)

At any rate, it all depends on how much you are really going to have to replace, as others have stated. The other factor might be where you are. I suspect that the local body shop here in South Dakota might be a bit cheaper than one, say, in Las Vegas. I could not agree more with the suggestion that you get a BID for the project and not an ESTIMATE!! Check with old car guys around where you live and see if any have good suggestions for body shops in the that area. You might think about doing some of the work yourself - let them do the welding, but you do the blocking, etc. Then let them do the paint. Squirting paint takes about 2 seconds. It is the blocking and smoothing that is so *(&)%*&&!! expensive.
Hope it helps and good luck...

thing is usually it is not just the rockers....they are jsut the bit you see. A rocker panel repair often turns into new floors etc.....if you are lucky you can geta fixed price/written estimate froma shop otherwise you will get hosed.

I would figure start at $500 and go from there. That is the outer skin and a tiny bit of rust prep only, no paint work. (plus parts) Triple that if any structure is bad.
