Tachometer not working 200

I have swapped out my big clock for a big tach and a small clock. The small clock is working just fine and before swapping out the big clock for the big tach the big clock was working just fine as well. I have been reading around on the board here and one of the mentioned things was to make sure the tach was getting 12V ground. Does anyone have a good way to test this?

You did hook up the red/white wire (previously sitting loose in the dash) to the back of the tachometer, right?

Yes I did hook up the red/white wire to the back of the tach. I even took the time to hook up a test wire from the - terminal on the coil to the back of the tach and still nothing.

Try the tach under the hood, with a pair of alligatored jumpers. use one to ground the tach, use the other to hook it up to the - on the coil. If still nothing, tach is dead.
