door swap 140-160

I read in the classified section of Brickboard that you can do a direct swap of 142 doors with 242 doors. Has anyone done that? Are the hinges the same? Any other problems? Thanks
Jim

The hinges shouldn't be the problem, the issue is the door striker, With 200 series doors you get the updated hinges which share the same mounting bolt pattern. The striker needs to match what is on the car, for 4 and 5 doors that is usually the same up to around 1977 or 79. I think the 2 door may have changed earlier.

I've got the doors from a 76 wagon on the front and 76 sedan on the rear on my wagon along with an 88 hatch.

How similar are the doors internally?

I wanted the window mechanism on a sedan to put into my 145 but wasn't sure if they would fit so I opted not to take them. I also noted a change in the armrest from just a year.

4 door and 5 door share the same inards. For a 2 door I would imagine there is not that much difference in the mechanisms with the exception of the part which actually holds the glass is longer to accomodate the larger window.
