Rebuilt m410? 140-160

How who and when can I get an m410, for my 164, rebuilt? Is it even possible to get a rebuild kit. My current trans is noisy and the m410 I just bought for parts is worse then mine. Everyone tells me George is the man to ask. Please help.

I think Eric is probably the guy. There may be others but the only one that comes to mind
would be Mike Dudek, IRoll motors in Gilroy.
The green manual gives pretty good info on assembly and disassembly.
If I were you I would go to someone who builds hot rod trannies and see if he would tackle it.

Its funny you said that because I bought the car through Dudek, from one of his customers. Mike told me to contact you. Thanks everybody

I've really got to go out and see him one of these days!
I avoid tranny work every chance I get!
Really the most tranny work I have done is to fish the shifter finger out of a M41D
for my doctor's daughter, and assemble the OD onto the tranny of a 75 M41J.
(It was shipped to me through the APO in Panama and had to be split because of weight limitations)
Actually I was pointing you to Mike as a possible source of parts, not the work.

    Hello,

Parts are hard to come by, but I have gaskets, seals, main shaft and cluster shaft bearings, shift dogs and springs plus quite a few used M410 transmissions and used parts in stock.

I also keep original Volvo gaskets, seals and o-rings to rebuild a "J" overdrives in stock as well.

About 6 months ago, I sent a whole bunch of M410 parts to Australia.

    Where are you located?

I am in the SF bay area. We're talking about an m410 for a b30, right?

        Hello,

Yes, M410, not M41, although believe it or not, both transmissions do share some parts.

Obviously they share overdrive components, but some of the seals, gaskets and internal parts of an M410 are shared with the M41.

Can't think of any "kits" to rebuild a Volvo gearbox. Excepting gasket kits.

I've done a few M4, M40 and M41s and have had to combine new and used parts. It helps to have a few extras lying around. Definitely harder to find used M410 parts than the earlier gearboxes. There just weren't as many.
