Sunroof replacement 200 1990

I have been looking for a replacement sunroof for my 1990 240 and found someone selling one from a 1984 turbo. Does anyone know if it is the same size?

Regards,

Scott

Did some late model 240s have a two-way sunroof? Vent or open.

If the sunroof is a manual crank factory original w/metal top, it will fit. The sunroof consists of many parts---what is it about yours that needs changing?--Dave

Dave I was hoping nobody was going to ask that. I got tired of not being able to use my sunroof since it kept jamming and proceeded to completely take it out along with all the hardware and clean/lube everything (which I did). I reinstalled everything but didnt have quite enought time to put the screws back in to mount it but it fit pretty snugly closed so I didnt worry about it and was planning on finishing the next day.

It seemed pretty secure and my girlfriend wanted to use it for a short trip...bad idea. She was driving on the NJ turnpike and decided to close the windows which created a pressure imbalance(14.7psi inside and apparently significantly less on the outside-The Bernoulli principle) and it popped off at 65 mph and by the time we recovered it had been mangled by oncoming traffic. It obviously could have been a lot worse. I am thinking the chances of matching the color (metallic grey) is pretty low but for the time being I am just going to buy whatever fits and worry about it later. As far as you know the curvature didnt change over the years and a '84 should fit my '90?

Ooops! We've all made mistakes like that at one time or another but in the overall scheme of things--not so bad--nobody was hurt and it is fixable. Not that I'd want to kill someone elses sale but I do have a sunroof panel ('83 242 - silver) off and available--on a gray car you probably don't even need to paint it. -- Dave
