Distributor Cap 700 1986

I have a 1986 740 GLE non-turbo with a B230F engine. The distributor cap is in the rear of the cylinder head, and I cannot see the mounting screws. Please advise how to remove the distributor cap. Thanks!

8mm gearwrench works great. Don't forget to mark your plug wires before you pull them off.

    Distributor Cap 700 1986

    Hello,

Go to Google and do a search for "Volvo 740 distributor cap".

You can then click on "Images" in the upper left corner of the Google search page and see pictures of the cap and the bolts that hold the cap to the distributor.

IIRC, an 1/4" drive 8mm socket and short extension are required to remove the 3 bolts.

The bolts are trapped although if you unscrew them enough, they can be removed, but as the new caps come with new bolts, it is unnecessary.
