Odometer question 200 1989

would anyone recommend ordering just the 25 tooth gear, before opening up the deal and looking at it?... I'm tempted to just order the easiest, most common failure part and then see what i find....
keep in mind, the odometer itself doesn't work, everything else is cool.

If the gear is broken you have to open it up anyway to replace it. IF the supplier has a good return policy, maybe OK to order first, but I would open the cluster first myself before ordering. . remember this in any event; NEVER EVER PUSH THE RESET BUTTON WHILE YOUR BRICK IS MOVING--NEVER!!!! Some will say never push the reset button regardless.

the instrument cluster is really easy to take out and the gear is also easy to check/install, but in all likelihood the gear is the problem, so i don't think it's that big of a risk to just go for it
