Injector seat plugs 444-544

Refresh my memory. It's been a while since I last did this.

I get 7/8" when I measure the injector seats on a B20E. So I should get 7/8" freeze-out plugs to close them off for a carb conversion, right?

I have received numerous dire warnings that a backfire would blow these out,
that they would leak if not installed with sealant, etc etc.
No such thing has EVER happened to me in quite a few years of using them.
I think they work fine. You can put sealant in, bolt a plate over them, etc,
but in my view that is not necessary, nor even desirable.
If a guy was running 15-20 psi boost, that MIGHT be a different matter.
(Based on my experience with a big bore engine, it'd better be standard bore!)

George,

That's been my experience. I do use a bit of sealant, but I think that, if you clean the seats thoroughly and you make sure you put a good dimple in the plugs, they'll stay put. The previous one I did was about eight years ago (That's why I wasn't 100% sure about the 7/8".) and the plugs survived a bout of backfiring when the distributor shifted because I didn't have its clamp tight enough.

Yep, 7/8" domed plugs will do it.

Thank you Prof. Singher. Didn't want to go out tracking through the snow tomorrow and come home with the wrong item, even if only by 1/32".
