I've been trying to track down a wiring harness for my 85' 245.

I found one posted on Ebay the seller's name is Enviro4u, real name is Burk Angel.

Well I didn't win the auction but he contacted me later saying he had one, so I purchased
it using paypal. A month has gone by now, he is terrible at answering emails and has vaguely
let me know that it should be on its way.

Has anyone done business with this guy?

If your sale falls through, I have a complete harness from an '88 240 NA with 144K miles on it that is in pristine condition. If you or anyone is interested just email me.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a smooth riding Brick.

This is why I stopped doing any business on eBay. I'd have multiple good dealings with a vendor and then he/ she'd choke on deals with me and multiple others and then multiple emails and forms and hassles with eBay and the seller and Paypal and continued vagueness ...

Meg Whitman didn't make her billions by being dumb - her wealth came out of eBay buyers and sellers.

For me it's all about consistency & certainty - I wouldn't buy something unless I needed it.

Anyway, this isn't anything like an I-told-you-so. It's just a reminder of why I think f_ck eBay (and we had > 1,000 transactions so it's not like we didn't try).

I've bought an engine wiring harness from him before, and he was reliable.

I kind of figured I wouldn't hear bad things about him, his feedback was good on ebay.

He has really turned into a dud now, the communication was good at the start and I figured
I would have my harness in no time, but it has really fizzled.

I just opened a dispute, so we'll see if this goes anywhere.

Start a PayPal dispute NOW sometimes it's the only way to get someone's attention. I hope you checked the merchandise box and not the gift box when you paid. If a seller requests the money be sent as a gift to save them the fees it's a sure bet they're shaky.

He has 100% good feedback. Do not wait too long to contact Paypal to get a refund. There is a time limit. You really should have done the deal on ebay, not sure why you didn't. It would only have taken him a few seconds to relist the harness on ebay for you to buy it. He probably is still looking for a harness for you. Whole situation sounds odd.

If you don't get one off this guy I'll be heading out to CA sometime hopefully in the next month. The Pic n Pulls are full of 240's. I could look for one to pull. I was planning on looking for a harness to pull to offset my trip costs anyways. I'll also be picking up a 90 245 that I just went out and fixed this past weekend but couldn't drive home due to the storm. So if you want a harness there are other ways than waiting on this guy. I can't promise I'll find one but I can try.

85-87 should all be the same. One Pic N Pull had about 10 240's and other B230F engines. It was crazy. I plan to hit 2 maybe 3 yards next time.

Good to know, I haven't heard anything yet, but I'll post on here what I decide.

transit wind: Is that the 'famous' 240 you were telling me about?

Ya the same one. I went out there and replaced the main pump. Would have driven it home but according to yahoo maps the trip around the snow would of been 4 hours faster than in reality. By the time I was out there the storm increased in S. Cal too so I luckily had a pilot tell me just prior to leaving that I could get a buddy pass home if something happened. So I need to go back out and get it once the weather looks a bit better and I have time. Nice straight body, no rust, clean engine, new belts, wires, cap/rotor, but its going to need some suspension work and the the steering needs some work. But it should make it home.

Good to hear you've got the harness. I'd clean that engine before attempting the swap. good luck too.

ITS A XMAS MIRACLE!

Wiring harness came this afternoon, and its in great condition, just verified the part # - 3515364

Funny thing, but not surprising, he shipped it on the same day I opened my paypal dispute.

Be careful doing business with this guy!

That's no joke. I was out in LA on vacation and I hit a yard out there and it was full to the brim with 240s and 740s . I brought a 3rd seat home with me on a half price day for $13! If it wasn't going to cut into my trip fuel money I would have picked up a set of wheels for one of my 240s. There were Turbo wheels everywhere, I was walking around with a bib on.

Hey, I was just curious which yard you hit that was full of 240s. I'm also in L.A. and always looking for parts for the fleet.

Thanks,
Kirk

It was the Pick Your Part on Pendelton St in Sun Valley http://www.pickyourpart.com/locations/losAngeles/
Not far from the I-210 if I'm not mistaken. They had oodles and scads of 240 and 740 series I don't recall anything newer than a 940 there. The Volvo specialty yard around the corner probably beats them out at the salvage auctions for the newer stuff.

I wish I had access to that place right now so I could pull a bathroom unit from one of the small RVs to rig in the front of my carhauler. None of the yards around here handle campers anymore.
