I just had some keys made for a set of locks that didn't have keys, and decided to clean and lube them, and I can't believe how nice the door handles work now (a "WOW!" experience). I was also WOWed when I removed and cleaned my speedometer box, but of course that was a few years ago. I just wonder how great it would be to have everything new and perfect all at once (since I only replace/clean stuff a little bit at a time) like from factory?

In 1979 I bought a 242 DL brand new, and six months later traded it in for a brand new 242 GT. There is nothing like a new car, but that said I have never spent for a new car since. Both were amazing from new - not trouble free - but still amazing......

I rubber plugged the holes in case I ever decide to use it again.

I prefer the look without it.

I bought a 1966 122s new. Black with red upholstery. I loved that car. I sold it in 1973 after the salt in eastern Canada started to eat it. I particularly remember the sound of the doors closing, a beautifully muted thump. I am currently rebuilding the doors in my '69 hoping to recreate that sound.

I just replace all 4 door window guides (channels) and not a rattle anywhere. The doors go 'thump' like they are supposed to. One of these years I will replace the door seal rubber and keep the wind out.
