Different Fuel Injectors 700 1990

Hi all,

I have a 1990 740GL with a B230F, AW71. It is running rough, and I have narrowed it down to fuel injectors. The part number for the injectors is 0280150762 and they are yellow in colour. They have a flow rate is 213.9cc/min.

I have a 1987 740 with a B230F, AW71. I know the injectors are good on this car.
Part number is 0280150734 and are black in colour. The flow rate is 192cc/min.

Both engines have a 530 head and Bosch FI system.

The question is why do they have different injectors, and can I replace the injectors on the 1990 with the ones from the 1987?

Thanks in advance,

Steven

If the 1990 is non-turbo and was originally sold in the U.S. it would be a real rarity (or most likely privately imported) if it has a Bosch fuel system. From 1990-on, virtually all non-turbo US 740's and 940's had the Regina fuel system. However, I believe both systems used Bosch injectors with different flow rates.

Both Australian delivered vehicles for aust market. Both non turbo. Will confirm on the fuel system but never seen the Regina system here myself.

You probably didn't get the Regina's "down under". As was mentioned, the different LH versions may have been the for the different flow rates.

My Regina injectors are marked Siemens, which makes sense b/c Rex/Regina was a Siemens-Bendix joint venture. I recall getting a set of cleaned, flowmatched replacement injectors for my Regina car for about $100, as I could not afford the downtime involved in sending the old injectors out for cleaning.

Even if the 1990 car is Bosch, it would be LH2.4 vs. LH 2.2 on the 1987, and the injectors likely differ b/w those 2 versions.

As far as crossing b/w Rex/Regina and non-turbo Bosch, this is interesting:
Bosch Vs.Regina/Bendix injectors

Turbo cars use injectors with different resistance, they are not interchangeable w/o modifications (go search on Turbobricks).
