Hard to believe they only moved 480 V50s last year. That said, they will continue the XC line, so it's not as though you won't see 'effectively' Volvo wagons all over.

Was at the dealer eying the new S60 IL6 twin turbo in Saffron metallic paint. I asked if the V70 came in that color, I would be interested. The salesman said the V70 was discontinued for MY 2011, but in July the new V60 will come out with the IL6 n/a and twin turbo on the same platform as the S60/S80, which was the same platform the last year of the V70 2010 MY was on, the S80/Taurus platform. They just moved the S60 to the same platform as the S80 and re-named the V70 to V60.

After reading that, I am now on the hunt for an 06 or 07 used V70R in dark silver/graphite... one of the last true AWD wagons.

That is a nice car. But will it be a problem in a few years to get parts? It was relatively low production.

The V70R will not have a parts problem, most parts are interchangeable with the V70 and XC70 cars. The V50 will be a problem, like the 780 and 242.

The V70 is no longer going to be made. It's replacement is the XC70 without AWD. Too bad, because the XC70 sits higher and does not corner as well due to the center of gravity.

Is that like non-scantech engine mounts for a 240? Or is it like trying to find a long life crankshaft harmonic balancer/pulley that will last a long time, ie. not made by scantech? How about the 240 heater valve from scantech? OE quality my behind, how about scantech upper strut mounts?

If I run into part availability issues, I'll start machining my own, something I've been doing to keep the ol' 245 rolling!

Too bad about the V50. I thought it was one of Volvo's best looking modern cars.

The XC70 is really still a wagon. It's a V70 with AWD and the cross country package.
