We recently rescued a very sad '87 745 Turbo. The car has been sitting for quite a while and ran when parked. I know this because I have known the car for many years. It was parked due to 4 exhaust studs breaking and a large exhaust leak. I can not get any spark, fuel, etc.. out of it. I attempted to test the hall sensor wiring and my readings where off so I attempted a repair and it is the same. Can someone tell me a good way to test the ignition computer or some other diagnostic help?


This car had an a/m alarm, I ripped all of this out and repaired the spliced wires all should be back to factory. 2 questions though.

1. there is a rectangle box on the cam cover with a wiring running to the the flex plate area on the passenger side with a sensor. I assume this is not factory as it is in a place other than the top of the engine and I have never seen this on any other car.

2. There was a grey rectangle box on the passenger upper clip on the coil. Again from all my research this does not apear factory either. Anyhelp would be appreciated as I am in the process of fixing the studs now and would like to get it back on the road soon.

pics would be helpful. put them on a photobucket, imageshack etc acct, it'd be easy to see what's up.
But no, they don't sound stock, esp the first one.

How far have you traced electricity? Do you have juice at the coil? to the starter? Does it turn over and not start?

I believe the FAQ has a step by step layout of what happens in what order; this is vital so you're not chasing the wrong things.
