backup lights always on

Somehow the backup lights (white light which comes on when reverse is engaged) are always on, even when the key is just on II position. It is M47II transmission. Is the backup light switch which I read here is on top of transmission, gone dead.

I do not have detailed wiring diag but I remember that there was a site where scanned copies of green books in pdf format were available. I had downloaded it and could not find that pdf now. Does any one remember what that site was ?It was some European site, I guess Erling had posted a link to that.

    backup lights always on

Hello, most likely the insulation has fallen off the wire and causing the wire to close the circuit causing the lights to be on all the time. Cut the wires close to the switch, resolder two new wires on and reseal with heat shrink, slice in a new connecter.
