Power Door Locks 200

Time to start working on the '82 245 again! Does this car have factory power door locks? I've done a search and found a great deal of stuff on how to fix them, but I would like to know if they are actually present on my car before I start taking things apart.

Many Thanks!

Tom

Up by the driver's left knee look for a connector with red-grn-blk wires going into the door. If there, disconnect and short red or grn to blk (on non-door side) to activate locking system in other doors.

If your car is a GL it probably has power locks. There is nothing visable. There are a couple of relays in the dash below the center air vents and switches inside the doors on the key locks and lock bottons. It can be an option on a DL. Look for a rubber boot containing the wires between the door hinges.

OK, Thanks! I see the rubber boot so I will assume for now that I have power locks and I will get busy.

Best,
Tom

Common failure is corrosion in the lock motor (located in the bottom outside cornor of the door) harness connector. Water gets passed bad window scraper rubber. The other failure is relays.

If you stick your key in the drivers door and the other doors unlock then you have power door locks.Of course this is assuming everything is in working order.
