Increasing MPG...Yellow or Blue Bosch Injectors? 700 1992

My daughter's 1992 745 non-turbo has the Regina system. When she bought it 3 years ago, it came with the yellow (3517572) Bosch injectors. Since then, I have learned that the correct injectors for Regina are the blue(1389563) Bosch injectors. I recently acquired a set of 4 blue injectors. I am having them cleaned today and will install them , if the Brickboard thinks I should do the swap.
Would the car run better with the correct OEM blue injectors and perhaps have better MPG?
Please let me know ASAP, as I have to return her car to her this coming weekend and it is a 400 mile (one-way) trip.
Thanks a bunch!!

Just installed new O-rings on the blue injectors and....( I could not resist....)replaced the yellow Bosch ones with the blue ones after my second 'beer of courage'. The blue ones went on without a hitch, started right up and after burning off the PB Blaster, etc she runs fine!!
Will check on MPG during a trip up to Houston this weekend.
Thanks again,

Did you pull the p/n's off the injectors?

FWIW, my '91 Regina mobile has two different color injectors (blue and yellow). All 4 have the same Regina p/n.

The yellow ones had a different # than the blue ones. I had the blue ones cleaned and replaced all the O-ring seals with new ones. Then I installed the blue ones on the car and it seems to run fine.
Thank you for your help.

Raidman,

The flow rates are different. One color is not going to give better results then the other. You need to use the injectors that came with the car.

The computer meters fuel based on what's coming out of the tailpipe so I really doubt a different set of injectors will help fuel economy. If the current injectors have a poor spray pattern or are dripping, I suppose a set of reconditioned injectors may improve things a bit. That said, a new set of injectors won't harm things either. LH2.4 "learns" and will adjust duty cycles etc to compensate for different sized injectors.

The current yellow injectors have been cleaned and new o-rings have been added. fuel economy is OK,car runs smoothly but I figured that the correct blue injectors would help the car have higher MPG.
I believe that the OEM injectors were the yellow ones now installed. Why would anyone switch the yellow ones for the blue ones? Or perhaps the previous owner had a different engine installed?
should I leave well enough alone?
Or experiment with the blue ones and see what happens with MPG, smoothness, etc?
Thanks,

You're not going to hurt anything by trying, provided you take care removing the fuel rail.

Yes, I will pick up the cleaned blue injectors tomorrow morning and install them with new O-rings tomorrow evening. The fuel rail is easy enough to take off and put back on, providing a lubricant such as PB blaster is used.
I'll just let the yellow injectors dry and then place them in the back of her car, in case we need to replace the blue ones in the future.
thanks,
