distributor bushings 140-160

Anybody know a source for new distributor bushings? Mine is a Bosch 007, the aluminum body. It is running in a 66 122, but that's beside the point.

Seek for a used VW distributor, many parts match.

thanks yogui. I tried that, actually. No luck. I'm checking out how it does with pertronix, which doesn't rely so much on accurate clearances for the shaft.

        Hello,

There are 2 bushings, an upper and a lower.

New lower bushings are still available.

You will most likely have to have the upper one made by a machine shop.

thank you Eric. That information is hard to find, you are the first person to know anything about those bushings. After many phone calls and some internet searching.

The story is, the Pertronix failed to start on some drizzly mornings last Fall. So I went back to points, which started fine, always. But the points made the timing strobe jump around. So I thought I would fix this by putting new bushings in the distributor. Couldn't find any bushings. But in my searching I called Philbin, a rebuild place in Portland, Oregon. The guy there listened to my story and suggested looking hard at the ignition switch. So I took it out and I did find a poor connection on the back of the ignition switch.

Now the connection is fixed, the Pertronix is back in, and so far it seems to start fine. The Pertronix levels out the timing jumping quite a bit, although not perfectly. Some friends are helping me diagnose that a bit further.

          Again, thanks for the reply.

          Rick H.
