940 wagon rear spring spacer with HD spring 900 1994

Replacing the rear springs on my 94 945 with Scan Tech HD springs from FCP. The spacer (rubber part that sits on top of spring) does not want to fit into the larger diameter coil. I think that I can get it to fit by doing some careful cutting and shaping of the spacer so that it fits snug and will allow the spring anchor (cup shaped metal washer that bolts under the top of the spring to hold it in place. Will that hurt, so long as the assembly bolts up, and the spring sits in the bottom rubber spacer? Is the "stop" (piece of the spacer that butts against the end of the coil) necessary?
Thanks!

I have a 91 940 T wagon that I installed Scantech HD springs into. I think the coil diameter is 13mm. They slide right into the rubber base spacer. The stock are 11.9mm so the rubber can adapt easily.

Dont try and jam the coil end in from the top, place it just outside of the rubber stop and rotate the spring into the stop.
