B23 retrofit 200 1985

hi my b230f seems to be knocking and noisey, how hard would it be to retrofit a b23 to my 1985 244.

Swapping the engine mounted sensors may be all you need to do to accomodate the newer engine control system.

Check the pulley location and mounting of the A/C compressor, and the alignment of its drive belt. The 1985 power steering pump and reservoir are quite different, so have a look there, too. P/S reservoir mounting may require some relocation of the wires on the left fender.

It it fits, go for it.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

Do you have state emission inspection? ... 200 1985

It might be problematic to put an older engine in your newer car -- many local laws involving emissions prohibit this (the reverse, putting a newer engine in an older car, is usually OK), and the older engine may not even have been designed to meet the requirements of the newer car's model year.

Just thought you should be aware. Good luck, in any case.
