Bulb out relay trick 700

I had the bulb out failure light come on for a burnt out brake light. After replacing the bulb, the relay would not drop out.

Cleaning the connections did not help nor did using two new identical bulbs. I noticed one bulb was brighter, so I probably had a ground connection problem.

Anyway , to fix the problem I substituted a 7528 bulb for the dimmer light (Normally a 1157). The 7528 bulb is the same fit but higher candlepower. The light intensity matched pretty well and the bulb out went away.

So, if all else fails, try susbstituting a 7528 bulb.

Spasske,

Why didn’t you just fix the ‘‘Ground Connection Problem’’?

This is on a wagon and it is difficult to even get the bulb socket back into place.

I cleaned the connections on the socket, but access to the printed ciruit board is impossible without removing the tailight. I could try spraying something down there but the chemicals may harm the plastic of the PCB.

So I went with the $2 solotion.
