8 valve replacement for 16 valve?

Does anyone know if a 97-960 16 valve motor can be replaced with an 8 valve motor. If so what problems could one expected to run into?

The designation "960" is Series 900, 6 cylinders. The B6304 is an all-aluminum, DOHC straight 6 engine. Earlier 1992 - 1995 960s were, I think, a 940 car with the 6-cylinder engine.

Your post question needs further explanation. What engine are you wanting to replace? The B6304 6 cylinder engine, or some other engine? If your car now has a 16 valve engine, it is a B234F, four cylinders, DOHC . That one might be replaced with the B230F 8-valve engine.

Engine control system computer, and sensors, would be minimum things to consider. Also the exhaust connection, too.

Your information does not correlate. The 97 - 960 was never offered with a 16 valve.
