clunk while turning 200 1983

Just replace my ball joints, within a couple of days, i'm getting a clunk on the right side while turning left. It only happens turning left not right. The steering is not affected, and happens while going slow, like into a parking lot or from a red light. Could i of done something to the right strut? I moved it around while trying to get the new ball joint in. I threw the old ball joints away, so i can't swap them out. I've read it could be a rack, is that the steering rack or the rack and opinion? or do i have bad ball joints?
Thanks
Sanford

IME this has usually been strut mounts. There's a thread on it in 740 FAQ. The slow-turn clunk coming out of a stop is classic.

Hi Stanford, Of course no one can give you an accurate diagnosis from afar, but from my mechanical wisdom acquired through countless missteps I would advise re-tracing your steps. (Before considering new variables) Especially concerning the struts.
good luck,
cliff
