240 fuel issues on carbarated 1981 not fuel injected also has manual choke 200 1981

we had to change the gas tank in my car it started leaking all over back muffler and they wont fit it til we change it done that but now the car wont run have checked all lines no leaks but cant figure this out if u spray gas into carbarator it will run for couple minutes we also have a choke on this car not fuel-injected either can someone please help me at samm@teksavvy.com for replies to this issue would be greatly appreciated as would like to drive to car shows

Fuel delivery issue 200 1981

Disconnect the fuel line at the carb and turning over engine see if fuel is being pumped out. If not then the line may be blocked. (The fuel pump may be damaged but unlikely because they are pretty sturdy.)

If you are inclined, disconnect the fuel line at the pump, and blow air through to clear the line. It should clear. Then gently apply suction to see if fuel enters. (Not a good idea to get fuel in the mouth.) If fuel doesn't come through then suspect a problem at the intake in the tank. Else it is the fuel pump.
