A/C output on 240 200

This is probably a long shot, but is there any way to increase the output of cold air in my 1991 240 sedan. When the car is moving I get nice cold air. However, at idle, the cold air decreases noticeably. It has the R 134a freon and aside from the idle output, I am quite pleased. thanks.

I have heard that using a variable orifice valve will increase the efficiency, particularly at idle. It will involve opening the system to put it in.

    Good luck!

My '86 was converted to the 134a system about 8 yrs ago and I installed a pusher fan from a Mercedes 300D diesel engine and hardwired it into the a/c compressor so that when the compressor kick on, the fan does too. Works great and don't have to wait for no stinkin' pressure switch either. Hope this helps.

Your 91 should have the "Pusher" fan in front of the a/c condenser. Check to make sure that is operational, because its purpose is to keep the air cool when the car is standing still. It is controlled by pressure in the a/c line, but a lot of people bypass that and make it manual or "on all of the time" when the a/c is on. The fan may not come on immediately when stopped, it will cycle on and off according to pressure, so you might have to wait a bit when you are checking it.
