"SER-VICE' light 200

Ya, that one, all the way to the left, it is mocking me now. It started appearing a few days before I noticed a major fuel leak. It comes on for 2-3 min. after starting. At first it was only on cold starts, now, it's every time. I figured it was connected to the leak. The leak was on the 7/16 hose going into the pump that resides with the filter under the car, so while I was there, I changed the filter. The filter change was accomplished yesterday (sunday) but because I was not sure of the size hose I needed, I waited until I pulled it off so I could bring it with me to the parts store to match it. This was done by my loving wife (with a bribe of going to A.C. Moore too), sadly there was only 1 place open on a sunday night at 8 pm and they did not have the right size. So this morning instead of going to work, I took my wife's car out to find the proper hose and was on the road towards work by 11:30. Problem, the damned light is STILL coming on at start up! No leak, that is fixed. So what could this light be telling me now?

Hi,

Jim's correct. It's just a service reminder light. You need to push the black reset lever that is located up under your dash, driver's side on the rear of the cluster.

That light has nothing to do with any system in your car except the odometer. It is the equivalent of a 30,000 miles trip meter.

It is a service engine reminder light that is triggered by mileage to remind you to service the engine. This can be reset by pushing the button on the lower right side of the cluster. If that doesn't work you can remove the bulb or dismantle the device on the odometer that triggers the light.

The check engine light on the other hand may or may not set codes that can be read by the OBD module located on the drivers side strut tower.

It's telling you to push the button to reset it.

Thanks to all, that was a rather rapid and stupid simple response. I have come across this kind of thing once before, in an 87 dodge truck I had, there was a small box with a 9V battery in it behind the glove box that did the same thing, the dealership told me to just pull the battery. DUH!
Thanks to all
