Is there somewhere I can access the method to read the codes on the computer? The car runs a little rough but made the 1400 mile journey from Alberta to Colorado. Thanks in advance, Kris

black box under the hood, drivers side. has a plastic stick for the holes. pin 2 is fuel, pin 6 is ign. poke the stick into a hole and push the button. led will flash. 111 means no code/no fault. 112, 121, 321, etc. means there's a problem. keep pushing the button until the code repeats. it will hold 3 per side. read the code, then pull the fuse for the ecu. this clears the code and resets the adaptation. it might cooperate until you can get more info as to what is causing the light. good luck, chuck.

231 is nothing to worry about. it usually occurs with another code, though. make sure 231 is the only 1. but it is a mixture-off code and is not critical to repair right away.. don't ignore it. the real problem could melt the cat. good luck, chuck.

Unmetered air...aka air after the AMM entering the system. Usually a vac leak or a hole worn the bottom of the intake bellows where you can't see it it well.

Reset the code and see if it comes back. If so, search for the leak but don't bust you head about it...it is a very non-fatal error.

I will look for the leaks. This car sat for 2 years in High River Alberta[the one that the boyfriend wouldn't replace the heater motor] I did and drove it back to Colorado. Probably needs plugs changed also.

If you didn't read more than one code, keep repeating the sequence to see if there is more than one code.

Remove the 25 amp fuse momentarily to clear the codes, drive the car and check to see if the codes have returned.
