Swapped the AMM/ECU from 86 into 83. Solved my troubles 200

I've for years been dealing with issues of a bad idle and even having the car stall for the first couple minutes. I did the swap and changed the AMM, ECU and plug wiring order in a matter of a 20 minutes. What took me years of trying all sorts of different things to fix the problem to no avail has finally been rectified. The car has got power and its motivated me to replace the clutch and rear axle that where in need of fixing. The M46 is out as I write. Tomorrow the clutch and rear main seal get replaced.

Time to put the 90 245 AUTO in storage for the winter to save it from a first year with salty roads. Wouldn't be right to expose it to the salt after 21 years in California.

Thanks for the help over the years to get this problem solved.

Swapped the AMM/ECU from 86 into 83. Solved my troubles 200

Are you saying that you put a 544 ECU and 007 AMM from an '86 LH 2.2 240 into a B23F car running LH 2 that would use a 503 or 510 ECU and 002 AMM and it all works? I am a big fan of swap and try (for ECUs in particular) and want to be clear on this.

Going off this thread I did the swap.

It was easy and painless since I have an 86 sedan being parted out for the junk yard. Its all about putting the harness wires to the AMM into the correct order and swapping the ECU. Thats it. Oh and swapping out the AMM which I've got more 007 meters than I know what to do with. I now have a few of the silver AMM for the 83/84 years but I don't know how good they are. Seeing that the car would run about the same with each of them I'm willing to bet my problem was with the ECU in the car. Maybe not I'm just taking a jab in the dark.

But the car has some real power, the tach is sitting still at idle and I'm excited to drive the car again. If you can get the parts I would recommend it. Put some info in the engine bay for future mechanics or owners as to what has been done.
