Failed smog, hi NOX 900

Have 1993 940nt failing CA smog. Passed in 08 an driven less than 500 miles since(due to illness).Checked all codes - all okay, checked operation all things on OBD1 all work. EGR is working but not sure works at running temp? what is temp sensor reistance when Hot? Any other clues? Don't want to parts swap as most indie suggest. Not willing to invest more than $500. Darrell

If you don't want to spend more than $500 and it costs more to fix it, I may be interested in buying the car.

Specs are in the FAQ. For high NOX, look for a vacuum leak somewhere.

No mention of EGR TEMP resistance in FAQ.

i had a watercooled vw that failed for NOX = bad cat.

since not so many miles in a year maybe you could take it out on the highway,
get it good and hot and do maybe a couple of italian tuneups to see if that helps.

If you've driven only 500 miles in 4 years that's probably it. NOx readings will be high when you don't take it. Did you take it for a good drive and get the catalytic nice and hot?
