ATF leaking from tailshaft housing bolts? 200 1991

I did the bushing and seal 6 months ago, then took it for a 4 mile drive and parked it. After sitting for a few months I see ATF all over the floor and after closer inspection ATF seems to be leaking from pan gasket and the two lowest bolts in the tailshaft housing. I took the housing off again to replace the gasket in case it got damaged at assembly last time but I could see nothing that should cause any problems. I put a new one on and it still leaks. I see drops forming on the bolts. Anyone?

Thanks,
John, Mpls

You pulled the tailshaft housing when you replaced the seal? You replaced (or siliconed a new) housing gasket? Bolts are tight?

if above checks out OK, I'd suspect a cracked housing.

I didn't think of that it could be cracked. I took the housing off and replaced the gasket with a new papergasket, bolts are tight and i didn't use any silicone at assembly. I'm tempted to go get a new housing from P&P... if they'd sell me just that.

New trans fluid is so thin and clean the tracks may have completely disappeared leaving only the accumulations at the lowest points. Is it possible the trans was over filed or that the original leak(s) were higher up? Front seal leakage through the bottom bell housing vents is common.
