Possible Fuse issue? 200 1988

Greets great folks of the wise brickboard!

I have a intermittent problem with fuse #1 in my '88 245 - occasionally i'm left w/o wipers and stereo. I remove the fuse, put it back, restart the car and every thing is fine. Rotating the fuse doesn't fix the problem - and the car must be shut off for it to be "reset" Fuse has been replaced with a known good one of the correct value.

where to start?

-thanks,
aaron

Could be the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Next time try jiggleing the key back and forth

Make sure you use only copper fuses. The silver metal ones are notorious for corrosion that you can't even see. Also wire brushing everything is a must. I was having the silver ones cut out 6 months after cleaning them. Now with copper ones it's been years since I cleaned any of them.

Wire brush with battery disconnected.

Squeeze the two contacts together for a tighter fit.
