No blinkers on 91 240 200

My blinkers on the 91 240 sedan aren't working. The hazards do work though.

Is there some sort of relay or something I need to be looking for? If so, how can I test it or bypass it?

Thanks..

The same relay is in use to make the hazards and turn signals blink, so if the hazards function, at least it is not totally shot. It's possible that it works OK when four bulbs are in circuit (hazard) but not two. On our 240's it is a black plastic box about 1-inch in cross-section and 2 inches long, with three wires attached. On our 240's it is beside the driver's R. leg just behind the plastic console side panel.

A generic replacement from an auto parts store should work OK and would be about $10. The ones I've seen use the same pin arrangement, so it is a simple plug-in.

    Hi,

Have you check out the fuses?

      All fuses intact.

Blinker relay just below radio behind the kick panel to the left of passenger's leg. I'll bet this is kaput.
Check out Hayne's manual for relay locations. Best $35 I've ever spent.

Other than poor fuse connections (the bane of every 240) the only reason I've had, inside the car, for turn signals not working has been a bad flasher relay.

On mine it's almost by the heel of your right foot, just where the carpet ends on the tunnel area of the driver's foot well.

Remove that big console side cover and it should be right there. Watch the clips if in place, they are bloodthirsty little buggers.

Alright thanks. I ordered a manual...Its on its way.

Is there a way to test the relays? Or jump the wires to see if they work or is this not recommended?

          Thanks...great site.
