When I purchase a new pressure hose should the crush washers come with it? If not, how would I get them before actually starting the job. I'm trying to avoid "running out" while I have everything apart.
What does it mean to flush out the power steering system? Anyone recommend a filter?

    Hi,

    When I purchased a Gates high pressure hose for my 90 244 about two years ago it came with all the necessary hardware needed. I think either FCPeuro.com or FCPgroton.com has Gates brand in stock pretty cheap.

    As for flushing, I think the procedure is in the FAQ.

    I stuck an old pulley on a drill and pushed out the old fluid and ran some new through it.

    Check the bolts that hold the rack to the cross member,

    When I changed the rack in my 740, removing those bolts took the most time - the ends of the bolts were OK, but they had rusted between the front and rear of the cross member and it took hours to get them out.

    If I did the job again, I would remove and clean those bolts before I started anything else.

    The high pressure hose does not, or at least mine did not come with the crush washers.

    I purchased mine here: volvopartswebstore.com

    the parts are:

    2 Gasket 18671 $0.66 ea
    2 Gasket 11996 $0.64 ea

    One is high pressure line, the other for the return to the reservoir line.

    Hope this helps. I don't have an answer yet to your remaining question as I haven't done it, but I believe the FAQ has an answer there.
