Can anyone provide a number or name for this part 200

For the life of me I can't figure out what to call this – it's the reflector behind the license plate. Any ideas on where I could score one? Or a name so I can at least keep my eye out?

Thanks,

Optional "rear decor panel". Rarely seen, even rarer seen intact, but an available dealer supplied option in the US. A couple of different 240 formats for the 85 and older cars, vs the 86-on. Also seen on 7-series, etc.

Rear Decor panel. Will fit 79 and later 240s with 6 panel taillights.Expect to pay about $300 for a good used one if you find it.And if someone offers one to you for less than that consider it a bargain.I have then on 3 of my cars.

Wow - had no idea they were going for those prices! I've got one somewhere, with "VOLVO" inscripted. Pulled it from an early 240 (5-panel lights, I think) at the PnP. Just picked it up on a whim, then decided it was too much trouble to fit it to my 83DL.

Guess I should put it on eBay and score some beer money.

    maybe-- 200

I did find out that part is "obsolete", however if you really want it, I will give my "pik-n pull " guy the picture of it and he can look for it. He scours the pic -n -pull places anyway almost fanatically anyway as it's a part of his business to keep good used parts on hand.

Give me an idea of what you think its worth to you, (include shipping) and I will ask Dave (my pic n "pull/ Volvo mechanic guy") if he can find it (tho "stumble upon it" might be more accurate.)

If you are sincerely interested, please email me the info for exactly what Volvo its for, year-model-etc..

    Thanks.

Thanks for all the responses, guys! $240, if I could even find one, may be a little steep for me. But it's good to know how hard they are to come by incase I see one in a PnP.

When I first bought my Volvo and had no clue, I passed on a pair of e-codes and a flat hood for 125 bucks total. Wish I could have that one back...

I believe this is the part number: 1394852

TascaParts.com lists it at $240.99. It may be discontinued, but I have been very surprised in the past with which accessories were still available new.

The real name is "decor panel". Google "Volvo 240 decor panel" and much will be revealed. There are at least two versions floating around, one for the later tail lights (like in the picture) and one for the middle-period tail lights. To my knowledge one was not sold for the early lights. (There is not one in the 1979 accessory catalog, at least.)

The rear Decor Panel is an OEM accessory offered by Volvo for 200/700 and I believe even 900(?) series sedans. The 200 series Part Number is 1394852. They were made for Volvo by an Italian company that also made them for SAAB and I imagine other makes. I believe the early version was flat and said "Volvo" on it, and I've heard people speak of a similar version that said "Turbo" as well. I've never seen these in the flesh. The 700 series version allegedly fits between the early 200 5-panel taillights. I've heard people say this works, but I've not seen it or had the chance to try.

This is a very rare accessory and they usually sell for hundreds of dollars when they come up for sale on FeePay once in a while.

Tasca lists them as still being available for $240:
      http://www.tascaparts.com/parts/index.cfm?searchText=1394852&make=Volvo&action=oePartSearch&siteid=213668

But they are in fact NLA.

If you ever do stumble across one, here are the installation instructions:

      later tail lights...middle-period tail lights

I've never heard it described quite like that.

Were there not just the five panel (what I guess you refer to as 'early') and six panel taillights?

No, the 75-78 models had a high trunk line and taillights similar to those on the late 164/144/142. Like this 1978.

Okay. I should have realized what you meant.

I guess my confusion is a matter of terminology since I usually describe them in terms of the number of lens panels, not timeline. There is some overlap between the 5 and 6 panel fixtures.

But the 'early' style, if you prefer, did not even occur to me in relation to this thread since there is, as you point out, no decor panel for that rear deck treatment.

I do no think that is a stock item in North America...so I would not know where to start. I have never seen one like that and I have owned a '76, '79, '81 and now '90 240.

Neither have I seen one in person, but have seen photos over the years for a vanity panel which was an accessory for sedans from Volvo. My recollection omits the little boxes on either side on this particular example, which look to make the taillight assembly 8-panel units.
