Re-habbing aluminum trim 120-130

122 Wagon - polish trim

I'm getting my 220 wagon ready for paint. As part of the project I want to polish the trim. The stainless isn't a problem, but the aluminum around the windows and the drip rail are in need of some real work.
These parts appear to have been anodized, but are now pitted. I plan to sand through the anodizing and polish the bare aluminum. My fear is that the aluminum won't hold up to the elements.

So far I've come up with...
Wax it about once a week
Clear coat it (Por 15 "Glisten")
Powder coat
Do away with the drip rail & live with the window trim as is

Which would be the best? Are there other ways to protect the metal?
What have others tried?

Thanks

I would add anodizing to the list. Check with platers in your area to see if anyone will do small batches.

I'd go with anodizing or powder coating. It's expensive, but that's not a surprise. New trim is also available through the usual suspects, but that gets REALLY pricey. There is also a product called Zoopseal, which will go about a year between treatments.
