I just read the FAQS re: R&R of handle. Driver's side handle is not connected to a linkage. I have the panel off the door and there appears to be a black plastic channel surrounding the vertical linkage. How does one remove to access for repair. Never having seen the linkage any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

I released the black plastic sleeve and loosen the nuts and screw holding the handle. The handle has no resistance at all. Could not figure how the assembly disconnects from the linkage.

There is a short rod with the diamond shaped upper part that fits into the handle. The bottom hooks into the latch mechanism. I don't know how this rod has come undone, may be it's broken. The handle has to come off to get the diamond part to fit in--it has to be turned 90 degrees.

Thanks for the response. I finally got my replacement handle installed,(thank you Peter Ross). There was a short learning curve with new words.
I've always owned 240s, door handles were straight forward. The trigger on this 940 handle stopped having any function, it would just move with no result.
