Over torquing transmission tail shaft bolt and TC to flywheel bolts 200 1990

Anyone know of negative consequence of over torquing..

Torque Converter to Flywheel bolts were torqued to 52 ft lbs think spec calls for 37

Transmission tail shaft center bolt was torqued to < 70 ft-lbs. Not sure what spec is on this bolt?

The bolts didn`t break or strip out so you`ll be fine. Just leave it be if they are still installed. Taking them out and re-torquing is almost surely going to open a can of worms

Thanks - That helps. Will leave alone an hope not to have to change. Will be tough to ever pull the tranny again un bolting those TC to flywheel bolts!

If the bolts yielded, then it could be an issue. They aren't made to yield, and so would likely suffer some cracking, and could fail in the future.

however, in this case, the over torque amount wasn't that great, and it's a good sign that the bolts all nicely hit the torque value you used, even if it was too high. Once bolts start to yield (stretch) - the torque amount levels off.

All in all, I'd agree that leaving it be is OK.

Thanks - Have seen torque wrench differences between my small 3/8" inch Lb and 1/2" Ft lb wrench.
