Regina fuel pump 700

I just replaced my apparently failing Regina fuel pump. The car let me down several times last week and I didn't trust it anymore. I didn't know if it had ever been replaced because the records are incomplete. However, there were several clues that it had.

1. It looked like there was only one original hose clamp, the one at the filler pipe, which just fell apart.

2. The fuel pump was AC, with what looks like a date code "3199". Would an original fuel pump say "Volvo"?

Would I be right the old pump is a replacement?

Interestingly, the replacement pump from FCP Groton came with a pigtail connector I had to solder to the leads while everything I've read so far says you need to solder the leads directly to the terminals on the pump. Hopefully a new pump is what I needed because the old one had twice the resistance of the new one. I'll find out tomorrow if it's a success because I still need a bunch of hose clamps to finish the job.

Thanks oldyellr. Yes sure, I also feel surprised and curious about a piece of clothing, kitchen fork, or a fuel pump that is labled say "Made in Spain".
Could the p/n 3507736 pump it be assembled in Spain, made in China?
I am not in principle against Chinese goods. They can be anywhere from terrible to good quality. I think they can manufacture anything in China and for however much you request. If you ask for a $10 fuel pump, they will make it; similarly for a $100 pump. One problem comes from the fact that a $10 pump is requested, and then sold for $100 to the end consumer that has the volvo quality expectations.

Thanks jerryc I will try to learn more about that.

Yeller, you are equal to 300K miles. I am at 200k miles and on the third pump minimum on the Rex Regina, Original, and two aftermarket replacements. Last one by me.

Rex/R Pump longevity was discussed in the 900 forum a little while ago.

Expect ~75k miles or 121k km per non-OE pump.

    Tom

"Would an original fuel pump say "Volvo"?

No. Volvo doesn't make pumps. AC (in the UK) is the OE Manufacturer.
