If you have a slow leak, it is in the return line as the other poster mentioned, leaking from one of the metal line fittings that POSSIBLY could be tightened as they have o-ring seals, or from the seals at the ends of the rack and comes out through the boots.

If the leak is in the metal lines, the pressure is so high, it will blow out all the fluid in seconds - I know!

Does your 960 have a rubber return hose attached at the bottom of the resevoir? Check that location as I once saw a 2003 V70 leaking from that rubber hose at the junction with the resevoir. I've also seen 240's leak at that location. Hopefully it is simply the rubber hose (if you have one) and not the metal line.

Clean off the undercarriage including the rack using citrus cleaner and a hose and start looking for the leak. Talcum powder can help locate it: spray it on the suspected leak area and look for the tracks. Often the metal pressure lines rust through.

I have never heard of clear power steering fluid...you sure it is not something else?

There an have been a fe posts about repairing the return line at the reservoir and few posts about the non-repairability of the of the metal line on the rack itself...never heard of other leaks.

power steering fluid leak - nothing in FAQ S90-V90 1996

Probably most of those crossover line posts have been inconclusive or 240 related so they didn't make the 7/9 FAQ list. But that is also what I suspect, factoring in the age. I use clear PS fluid.
