Hello,

According to the Volvo green book on brakes, the inner seals are square.

The green book describes the groove in the caliper for the inner seal as having an oblique angle, but the seals are square and do not have a taper.

Having sold foreign auto parts for more than 20 yrs I have never seen a tapered seal, I have sold thousands of ATE and Girling seals, are these new seals or are you reusing the old ones??

Pointy edge faces the fluid, so tapered side would got towards pad.

That way, then pressure is applied, the fluid tries to expand the seal against the inner bore.

Put it in the other way, the fluid would do the opposite, compressing the seal and the fluid would easily go past and escape, as it is wont to do.

If you're talking about the piston seal that fits in the caliper, the part of the taper that is "deepest" in the caliper is towards the pad. In your words, I guess this would mean the taper is facing away from the pad?
