Flex seal (rubber in a can) to seal windows / rust encapsulator work? 140-160

Ok I have a 72 140 wagon that has some history of leaky rear side windows... Im thinking of carefully taping off & spraying flex seal to seal the old window seals to the windows with overlapping 1 inch bead of this rubber. The drivers door rubber is getting ratty also, im thinking this rubber spray might be a functional cheap fix. anyone try this kind of thing? results? P.S. are the rust encapsulator etc... eastwood products good?

THX!

Flex seal (rubber in a can) to seal windows / rust encapsulator work? 140-160

I've always figured that 'Flex Seal' is just a way to sell rubberized undercoating for 3x the money...

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

I'd be curious to know if it's different though.

That said, I like the idea of black silicone more. Anything that comes out of a can has the potential to be a real mess if it gets away from you and onto a surface that it'll need to be removed from...

I think if your careful it could work better than silicone. not real crazy about silicone... it's also messy, doubt it would hold up over time. supposedly flex seal wont fail in any way due to sun damage. It wont be pretty (...thought out application will pay off), but will be effective i think. Im thinking a flexable wide weather stripping with a good tape on half of it that could overlap / protect the old rubbers enough could be a good way to go & wouldnt look to ugly? No matter what you use, you should clean up the area with rubbing alcohol or similar stuff, so you get max sticking power.

I don't know about flex seal but the florida sun dried the rear side window rubber on my 145 pretty badly, almost seems like a lesser type of rubber than on the other windows, i had good luck filling the bigger splits with black silicone and then coating the rest of the seal with a thin coat just using my finger, the lower length was the worst, as it is a more or less horizontal surface it soaks up lots of UV and then does not shed water quickly when the rain comes. im interested to hear about the flex seal if you go that route.
