PV Window Crank and Door Handle Removal 444-544

How is the PV door handle and window crank held in place?
Is it similar to 60/70's North American cars where you need to push back the wire clip between the door panel and handle? or ???

Thanks for everyone help. I will be checking out a door mounted on the car and I may purchase it. It looks like the easiest way to remove the door may be to knock out the hinge pins and somehow disconnect the door keep first. I may not have to remove the door panel until I work on the door.

Found a good exploded view of the door here.

My 67 Duett has a pin that holds the handle to the square shaft of the winding mechanism and similarly the door handle is the same. I use a tool that i believe is used for this same purpose on GM cars. You will need to move the black phenolic spacer against the spring and use a nail or a ssmall drift pin to remove the roll pin which you will see when you move the spacer away from the handle. It's awkward to remove at best, but certainly not impossible. And as the Brits say, installation is a reversal of the above procedure. A pair of needle nose pliers are handy for the reassembly.

Good luck.
Bob

A simple drift pin holds the handles on my '60.
