92 240- where can i get the plastic trim molding around the inside door release? 200

hi sages- just an update on the plastic molding parts on my 92 245 wagon. friday went to a local pnp and found a 91 245 wagon jacked up , but it was in remarkably good condition body and interior, although scroungers had pretty much taken apart the interior. found 4 excellent door release covers and a cover for the inside release on the hatch. also found a left front door arm rest(mine is popped out at the top of the door pull. have to figure out how to disconnect the part yet. surprised at the good condition of the 91 i found. guess either the auto trans blew or the blower motor or the cylinder head. the fortune it would cost to r and r those items probably consigned it to the junkyard. sad but true, a large number of good condition and late model vehicles are sent to yards due to the exhorbitant repair costs for auto trans repairs, interference engines demolished by busted timing belts , etc. good that forums like this keep some of the old tanks running. uncle moe said this is one of the sub rules of planned obsolescence whereaby dealers want to get the proven reliable and repairable cars off the road so you will buy a new car which is almost always a bad deal. what think you? regards oldduke

I don't know the part number, but I highly recommend checking with the dealer. 240 interior parts have become scarce and highly sought in the past several years - odds are, if the dealer has it, it is almost as cheap as eBay, without 20+ years of use.

If you are looking for tan/beige, almost any of them you find will be brittle. I would recommend, instead, that you find black or blue door handle surrounds and buy a can of SEM Color-Coat in the 'camel' shade. It is a close match to the originals, and if you do all 4 doors, it will look good. The appearance of the 'camel' paint can be improved with their gloss clear topcoat to match the original sheen.

I have a collection. The majority will be from older 240's -- the newer plastic doesn't hold up. Have MANY from 140 series -- black with the aluminum trim around the perimeter.
I was recently visiting family in Winston-Salem and checked in at the local pullapart--two '90's one '91. Some of the surrounds were already broken but between three cars I could only manage one surround intact-tan. -- Dave

Might be a good item to check ebay...I just took a quick look and found a few on there. I'm betting if you have a little time and aren't in too big a rush you could find a couple for decent BIN.
