GLT starts sometimes but will not go 200 1982

I parked this car about two weeks ago and just tried to get it running again today. After several tries it did start and I was able to keep it going at about 2000 rpm. If I let it fall below this it stalls and is difficult to start.

When I attempt to put it into gear [it is a manual transmission] it dies almost immediately. I have been able to get it to move onto the driveway from its storage position however with much revving ,etc.

If I am able to get it running it will run steadily at 2000 rpm.

This is a B23 engine with CIS fuel injection. It has been a very reliable engine for over twenty years now but I have been neglecting it of late I have to say. I am not much of an expert on fuel injection systems and do feel a little lost as to how to approach the problem.

Weather here is good and warm but the fuel gauge is reading below the half way mark. Not sure if I might have water in the gas from the layover.

in no particular order you need to verify the operation and cleanliness of the:

fuel tank for sediment
the fuel filter
the fuel distributor under the car and
the fuel pressure regulator under the intake manifold

one or more of these is very dirty

found it. just moisture in the distributor 200 1982

It turns out that because I had covered the car with a cover and that we had had a very intense thunderstorm yesterday, the atmosphere under the cover was very humid. I thought about this, wiped the inside of the distributor cap and away she went. Thanks for your input though.
