Which diagnostics hardware/software for my 940 OBDII ? 900 1997

Hi,

I ran DICE on my 940 - 1997 and when it finished to read the car profile I got a message that basically says if the car is older than 1999 DICE is unable to read it.
How do the dealers do then? VCT2000 + VIDA 2010A or DICE + VIDA 2010A?
No chance at all to get my DICE to read with my 940?

You may wonder why a '97 940, the car is European and they went out of the market in 1998.

Thank you!
Alex

I bought the OBD-II code reader/diagnostic tool from IPD (Foxwell NT300). It reads codes and displays realtime operating data on my 1998 S90 and my son's 2001 XC70 with no problem. So the pre-99 restriction on your device is puzzling. I thought that OBD-II was standardized as of the the 1996 model year, and later years were compatible...(at least for North American market veh's).

Perhaps Euro-spec OBD of your year vehicle are not recognizable to your device and trigger a generic error msg?

Hi,

I don't think the OBCII is the issue, likely the VIDA version as I believe the latest version supporting <= 1999 cars is 2010A and I am on 2013A.
I will have to try to downgrade and see what happens.
In the meantime, I welcome other opinions :)

Thanks
Alex
