Manal trans swap question 200

Quick question. Will a manual transmission (M46, 47) from a 7xx series swap into a 240?

Thanks to all, it was just a thought.

Manal trans swap question 200

yes BUT!

you will have to use the shifter and all its framework sticking off the back the 240 transmission on the transmission you remove from the 740.

so be careful pulling out the 240 box, do not damage any of the shifter bushings or framework.

there will also be an extra linkage swivel on the back of the 740 box you won't need.

Right now I have an automatic in my '92 240 and will be installing the manual from the 740 turbo intercooler wagon.

that fact you neglected to mention.

imo you are out of luck.

besides requiring the shifter framework unique to the 240 you will also need the pedal assembly which is meaningfully different than on the 740.

your call of course but imo not worth all the work

It's possible to cut and reweld the shifter rod and cage that bolts on to the back of the transmission. The 240 just needs it to be a little shorter (by about 2"?).

It's probably just easier to find a 240 donor trans.
