The odometer on my 144 just stopped so I was going to remove the cluster and send it out (without damaging anything!) If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it!

I think the procedure would be the same as for an early 240. Reach up from underneath to release the cable from the speedo--a quarter turn sets it free. Remove the steering column cover--at least the top. That should expose two screws holding the bottom of the cluster to the dash. At the top of the cluster are a couple of curved spring steel "holders" - for lack of a better term - these must be compressed to allow the top of the cluster to tilt out. Now the next step I do may sound cruel and barbaric but I've never done any damage to a cluster or dash. I reach one hand up behind to push against the top of the cluster while I use a sturdy screwdriver levered against the "hood" of the dash with the blade inserted above the top of the cluster. It doesn't take too much pressure on the lever along with a push from behind to get the cluster to pop out at top. Now you can flip it to get to the wire connectors and then withdraw the cluster from the dash. Installation is the reverse--except you don't have to lever it back into place--it'll pop in with a push. -- Dave
