There's a B18 sitting in my shed, the old motor from my '62 2 door. It was replaced by the p.o. with a Volvo factory rebuilt b20. After a fire in my shop I am really in clean up mode so this thing must go. Against some of the advice given to matt b in another thread, I don't think I'd ever put big money into a b18. The engine is missing some parts like starter, carbs, manifolds etc, but the block is intact with it's head. On the plus side, it's strapped into the shipping container the b20 came in, a welded skid with a fold down plywood box surrounding it. Is it worth trying to sell? What's a used motor of unknown condition worth? If anything.

I hope that you understand that I was being sarcastic as I am really quite envious of matt b's 123GT. Especially of that spectacular steering wheel.

It is funny, however, that you have this title and ended up getting a "scrap metal" reply anyhow. :)

I can totally attest to that..

Please do know that Xtype and I have been giving each other hell online for more than a decade. Starting with our love of Jaguars (how's the lavender paint on the coupe holding up, anyhow, X?) And.. now it seems he's gotten himself into Amazons.

I expect he'll have a proper junkyard of 'em in short order :)

He's a good guy, and.. well.. any snide comments between he and I are to be taken in jest. That's how we are. Especially after that first Scotch :)

Absolutely at least 2 cents a lb., perhaps more. In all seriousness though, I'd stick it on your local Craigslist for $100.00 and see what happens.

thanks, actually the local scrap yard is paying .07-.08 cents a pound. I know this because I've been junking a lot of scrap. It isn't much but the alternative was to pay to dump it. I have a feeling the crate is worth more than the motor.

If you do scrap it, strip it down for some of the parts as spares.

Especially the distributor drive gear. I have sold 3-4 of these in the past year to replace broken ones, but they are many other small pieces that can come in handy down the road and most of them will fit a B20.

You might find an ardent admirer of the breed that wants the whole thing.. a picture might help a bunch. If you weren't on the other side of the continent, I'd be interested.
