Cruise Control Issues 900 1994

My cruise control is totally inoperative. The fault code shows "No Signal From Speedometer".
Further inspection reveals speedometer and all gauges working properly, but no signal out to ECM or Cruise Control Module.
Only thing I can think of is a defective speedometer head.
Am I one the right track?
Thanks everyone.

Cruise Control Issues 900 1994

I just experienced this in a 1995 940, same message. The speedometer was working perfectly but we had "no signal from speedometer" as the error code from the cruise control. I solved it, prior to the fix in the thread noted, by replacing the instrument cluster. I'm about to attempt the repair on the failed cluster using the technique in the thread.
Let us know how you make out with this and I'll put the results in the FAQ.

This problem is another artifact of one known weak spot in 700/900 cars which is the flex circuit on the back of the cluster.

Cruise Control Issues 900 1994

See this thread for some ideas: fix for recurrent 3-1-1 code on 940 with yazaki cluster

FWIW, I never had cruise prior to this fix, but haven't gotten around to testing whether the cruise now works since then so don't know if the speedo signal issue was responsible.
