Cruise Control Repaired 900 1994

After a full check of electrical connections and switches, I found all systems were receiving power and operating.
I then supplied 12v power to the vacuum motor and found it INFLATED the throttle bellows instead of drawing it back with suction!
Obviously, the rubber T-Connection hose at the bottom of the vacuum pump had been installed on the "exhaust" side nipple.
Simply by switching the T to the vacuum port, the system operates as designed.

Somebody, somewhere will wonder the same thing in the future so I inserted your comment in the FAQ.

Cruise Control Repaired 900 1994

Dear Steve,

Hope you're well. You're 100% correct: given time, anything that can happen - however bizarre - will happen. I'd have thought someone would have noticed that the black rubber cruise control actuator was pressurized, owing to the backwards installation of the hoses. I'm glad it didn't explode!!

A point of language: the term "in the future" - now widely used - is unnecessary. The verb tense - "will" is the future tense of "to be" - shows that an action is expected to occur.

Because the past is behind us - by definition - a sentence in which "will" is the verb used, can only refer to an event that is expected. Something that is expected to occur is - by definition - in the future, so nothing needs to be added.

The same things are true of the phrase "in the past", which you did not use. One who writes, "In the past, we did that.", shows a want of understanding, that "did" is the past tense of the verb "to be".

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
