turbo,,,drives for 2 miles & then starts crapping out....replaced fps,,cleaned throttle body replaced timimg belt,,cat,oxygen sensor,,replaced both pumps,,filter s,,cant figure it out..maybe the knock sensor??

Spent 2 hrs to go 15 miles,,to Harrys Upullit,,allentown,,on a Friday when they should be open till 7pm,,,got there at 6pm figuring I could get another FPrelay,,a wiring harness & maybe a few other parts<
I need to find a nother wiring harness for the fuel relay,,it keeps getting loose& thenthe engine dies,,
I have to find a fuel pressure gauge too,,I couldnt go over 45,,mph,,I will try to switch the on the rail fuel pump tomorrow w a spare I have ,,,maybe that is the problem,,

I just realized that the FP relay that i got ,,for free,,from FCP ,,I finally located another relay & it worked,,started right up ,,,Tomorrow i 'll check & see take it for a drive..Maybe 2 or 3 things were all happened at once..

I am such a GOOOOSEE!!! Vacuum lines,,crapped out on me at th quick chek,,was running & then it stopped ??? i had 2 lines that were leaking & trimmed them off & reclamped ,,the ends on the intake manifold were getting heated up & they LEAKED!!!
I feel like a Grade A @#$(((...
Started right up,,,There is another 2 that I will replace to be on the safe side,<,

replaced a line every day,,,I am still having weired problems,,I think the FPR,,That I got maybe defective,,,,I cant complain to FCP tho they sent it to me for free when I was out of cash for a while,,,
I have to find another spare,,,still dying out occasional

Starts up & drives for a few miles,,then gets slower & slower till it is stops on the side of the road,,keeps running,,

My FPR was bad,,replaced it & its better.

STILL having problems,!! AAHHH!! Going to replace the intake manifold gasket,,& maybe get another throttle body,,,rpms are still at 2000,rpm idle....

When my AMM died. Just driving down the road, loss of power. Got off the side of the road. Reved fine in neutral, no issues. The minute I put it in gear and let out the clutch, bogging, backfire, stumble. Have you check your turbo air intake hose? They get soft and collapse when you get into boost. Chokes the air off.

Are you talking of the hose that goes from the turbo to the intercooler?/THAT is kind of soft,,Ut I would think it wouldnt collapse because its being blow into??there is the intake hose that takes air out of the flame trap system,,& in the intake supply hoses there is condensed oil,I wonder if that means it should be cleaned out? I dont see how excess turbo air would not be forced out there?/

No, he means the hose from AMM into turbo, the turbine is pulling air in, causing old weak hoses to collapse. The hose you mention has boosted outwardly pressurized air.

ok thanks I ll try that.Cleaned the Mass air flow/AMM w throttle bottle sensor cleaner,,now when I turn the key it starts right up & then DIES!! wont idle at all!! Where it used to idle too high....

The only recommended product to 'clean' the AMM is... wait for it... AMM cleaner.
I have not yet seen a post that said it had any positive effect though. The circuit has a built in cleaning process.
A. Have you pulled codes? Read the FAQ; sockets 2 and 6.
B. I have never read a post about a bad knock sensor.
C. Is the cps new?
D. Power stage: condition? replaced?

My error; 87 does not have a cps, but a Hall sensor. 87 has Bosch lh2.2, so no code box.
The Hall sensor does go bad, the connector at the dist fails afiak.
But there is a power stage I believe; have you replaced it yet?

The problem seems to be the in tamk fuel pump,,no fuel when I pull off the return hose

My 89 had a box for codes,this 87 doesnt.I forgot to reconnect the intake hose ,that was what was preventing it from restarting,,it now runs,,idles high & I'll see what effect the cleaning had..thank god for my insurance policy tow coverage!!
